PIKE CREEK COFFEE CO - Newark, DE

Basic Rating

  • Shell Texture - Noticeable Lumps- Meaning Almond Flour was not ground enough

  • Size - Uniform, Top and Bottom Shells Matched - Macarons were larger than usual, almost double the size of most macarons

  • Flavor Variety - Awesome Flavor Variety, along with classic macaron flavors. Passion Fruit, Rose Lychee, Cassis, Earl Grey, Lemon, Vanilla, Coconut, Chocolate Coconut, Jasmine, Black Raspberry Chocolate, Pistachio, Wedding Almond, Honey Lavender

  • Filling was a wonderful creamy light texture. It was light and had delicate flavor and a perfect pairing with the extreme flavors.

  • Availability - We went on a Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m and they still had a lot in stock, we were able to get at least 1 of each flavor. Still, I recommend calling ahead of time, especially if coming from out of town.

  • Flavors were very very potent!! You could definitely tell what they were suposed to taste like. Very rich, especially the floral ones like Rose Lychee and Lavender. I could only eat about 1/4 of one.

  • FRESHNESS - Since they are shipped in, I assume they come frozen then are stored in a refrigerator. Which I have found, freezing macarons does not compromise their taste at all. They freeze very well and thaw perfectly to room temperature.

  • PRICE - EXPENSIVE $2.60 each, but this is because they are made at Macaron Cafe NYC and brought down to the Pike Creek Coffee Co stand inside Zingo's Market in Newark , DE

  • PACKAGING - Very fancy box with cute gold ribbon

WOULD I GET THEM AGAIN? I would not go out of my way, but if I was passing, I may stop.
